Step-by-step guide to using the test-tube planter
- Select Healthy Cuttings: Choose a healthy stem cutting from an existing plant that you would like to grow. Ensure that the cutting has at least one leaf node, which is where the roots will develop. Make sure you select a plant that is suitable to grow indoors.
- Prepare the Cutting: Trim the cutting just below a node using clean scissors or pruning shears. Remove any leaves from the lower part of the cutting to prevent them from being submerged in water.
- Place in Water: Fill the test tube planter with clean water. Submerge the cut end of the plant cutting into the water, ensuring that the node is completely submerged.
- Provide Adequate Light: Place the test tube planter in a location with bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can cause the water to heat up and promote algae growth.
- Change Water Regularly: To prevent stagnation and keep the water clean, change it every 1-2 weeks. Rinse the test tube and refill it with fresh water.
- Monitor Growth: Over time, roots will develop from the node of the cutting and extend into the water. Once the roots are a few inches long and well-established, you can transplant the cutting into soil if desired, or continue to grow it in water.
Care instructions:
- Use a dry cloth to remove dust from the jar.
- If necessary, wipe it down with a soft cloth after mixing gentle dish detergent with water.
